20 YEARS ON 2.20.2020
This year the Krewe of Muses would turn twenty on February 20th, 2020. Eerie right? And with all those twenties? So what else could our theme be other than “ 2020 Visions, NostradaMuse Sees All”.
Too bad the weather didn’t cooperate. While at the pre-party we found out that our ride had been canceled due to heavy winds and rain. But the pre-party continued and that rolled right into the after party. Jennifer Coolidge was our honorary Muse and the B-52’s played the party. The only difference was no ride in between—and we were going home at 11pm instead of just hopping off floats.
But the City of New Orleans made it so we could roll the next day. It would be a much shorter, much faster ride, but we’d at least be able to ride!
We’d start on Napoleon Street rather than Jefferson and skipping Magazine Street altogether (sadly, the night before our parade Magazine Street itself was the site of a tragic accident ). And we’d be getting ourselves to our floats on our own. No buses, no loading. Just get as close as you can and start walking to your float.
Luckily we have a Krewe member who lives on Napoleon, so many of us gathered at her house before the ride. As much as we all wished we were riding like a normal year, we enjoyed a second day to be with our sisters, a second day where everyone was relaxed and ready to put on a good show.
Because we weren’t the only parade to be canceled, Friday’s line up ended up with 5 parades on one night. So at lightning speed, and in bright sunshine instead of the stars, our parade took off from Napoleon Avenue.
